Stainless & Corten Steel Sculpture
hand cut sculpture, unique

240x45x45cm
eucalypt leaves sculpture (blue Gum )
suitable as indoor  or garden sculpture

Inspired by a partially skeletonized Blue Gum leaf discovered in a backyard garden, this sculptural trio captures the delicate transition of a leaf from life to decay. Unable to choose a single moment of this metamorphosis, the artist has created three distinct yet interconnected forms, each representing a stage in the leaf’s journey.

The first leaf, a pristine testament to the leaf’s initial state, is crafted from sleek stainless steel. Delicate line stencil work, reminiscent of the leaf’s intricate vein patterns, adorns its surface, highlighting the beauty of its unblemished form. In contrast, the second leaf, a skeletal representation of decay, is forged from weathering steel, a material known for its rustic, oxidized appearance. The leaf’s intricate network of veins is meticulously cut out, mirroring the delicate skeletonization process observed in nature.

The final leaf, a hybrid creation, seamlessly blends the characteristics of its predecessors. A central core of stainless steel, reminiscent of the leaf’s vibrant, living state, is surrounded by a decaying edge of weathering steel, symbolizing the gradual encroachment of time and the elements. This fusion of materials and techniques creates a visually striking and conceptually profound piece of art.
