ARTpark’s abstract sculpture collection represents the country’s leading contemporary sculptors working outside the figurative tradition — where form, material and negative space carry the work rather than a recognisable subject. It’s ARTpark’s largest single collection, spanning geometric steel constructions, fluid organic forms and monumental corten and stainless-steel installations built for gardens, public spaces and architectural settings.

Materials range from weathered corten steel and mirror-polished stainless steel to patinated bronze and carved stone, with scales running from intimate table-top pieces to landmark outdoor works designed to anchor a large garden or public plaza. Many of Australia’s most awarded contemporary sculptors are represented here, working across geometric, gestural and structural abstraction.

Abstract sculpture suits contemporary architecture particularly well — its openness to interpretation means a strong piece reads as sculpture first, without competing with a building’s own lines or a garden’s existing planting.
