John Fitzmaurice was born in Sydney, and is now living on the N.S.W Central Coast. With a background in building and design, he now has time to pursue his artistic passions, with sculpture being a natural progression and preferred medium. He works in a variety of materials (stone, timber, fibre glass, Corten steel), currently stainless steel is his favoured medium. His works are inspired by natural forms and everyday objects which are transformed with abstraction and humour. Working from home, he prefers making large outdoor pieces with durability and quality being of high importance. His smaller pieces are equally suited to both home and commercial environments.
