Timber Sculpture – Australian Artists

ARTpark’s timber collection is led by Lucas Guilbert, a Melbourne-based sculptor who sources timber from across Australia’s ecological regions and shapes it using burning, charring, brushing, distressing, oiling, bleaching and dyeing techniques, often combined with raw steel or brass elements. His work draws on the relationship between wood, place and time — pieces that carry the years archived in the wood’s own grain.

Timber pieces suit covered or partially sheltered positions best, whether indoors or out — many owners come to value the natural weathering that direct exposure brings as part of the sculpture’s character over time.
